Born and raised in Miami, FL, I quickly found that my half Cuban, half MidWestern background would land me far from my earlier dreams of working in corporate America. The hospitality industry has taken me around the world, exploring all levels of food and bev. I've worked at chain restaurants, chef-driven boutiques, fine dining, sports bars, you name it. During my time as an owner/operator, I found it terribly difficult to reach out to other operators to get advice. We just don't have enough hours in the day or enough allies who wish us well. It's a deeply competitive industry. After closing the doors to my late night DJ lounge (as I was soon to become a father), I realized how much I had to offer other businesses. Throughout the years, I learned how to do it all: write effective business plans, operational plans, budgeting, staff training guides, marketing strategies, navigating local and regional governments, developing menus, controlling inventory, putting together teams, and building a successful business culture. I want everyone who has the audacity to get into this chaotic business to have access to all of what I know. Check out the blog.
